Your extended abstract should be prepared according to the following guidelines:
- The manuscript must be no more than 3 journal pages in length. As a general guideline, the article should be no more than 2300 words (including references), less 300 words per figure included in the article.
- The manuscript must be formatted for 8 1/2×11 (letter) paper, and should be double-spaced.
- The paper must begin with the title (centered), authors (including affiliation and email address, also centered) and an “abstract” (summary of the content) of 25 words or less.
- Use the following format for section headings: SECTION / Subsection / SUBSUBSECTION.
- Each figure must be placed in an appropriate location and be referenced in the text. It must also include a caption clearly describing its content. (See note below regarding colour figures.)
- References appear as numbers in square brackets within the body of the paper (e.g., [1]), and are then listed at the end of the paper in numerical order (DO NOT use the endnote feature in your word processing package), using the following formats:
Articles:
- A. Einstein, B. Podolsky, and N. Rosen, “Can quantum-mechanical description of physical reality be considered complete?”, Phys. Rev. 47, 777-780 (1935).
Books:
- P.A.M. Dirac, “The principles of quantum mechanics, 4th edition“, Oxford Science Publications, 1982.
If a reference has more than three authors, use the first author only, as in: A. Einstein, et al., “Can…”.
FILE FORMAT
Two versions of the paper must be submitted electronically: a word version and a pdf version (fonts embedded). The word format will be used for typesetting; the pdf will help to ensure that mathematical symbols are correctly typeset. Both versions, as well as individual, high-resolution (300 dpi) graphic files (.jpg, .tif, or .pdf (fonts embedded)) for each figure and a high-resolution (2×2) or low resolution (3×5 or larger) photo of the author must be received by the CAP office (capmgr@uottawa.ca) by August 15.
NOTE: A fee of $100 per figure is charged for each colour figure (including the author photo); there is no charge for B&W figures. If converting a figure from colour to black and white, please make sure it is still clear (e.g. different line styles for different curves); similarly, if converting a photo from colour to black and white, please ensure that the contrast, etc result in a clear image.
