Transportation to McMaster University

The main campus of McMaster University has 300 acres of scenic property, and is located in the Westdale neighbourhood of Hamilton. Maps and full details of how to travel to McMaster are available on the University web site: https://future.mcmaster.ca/visit/directions/hs.

For GPS purposes we recommend you use the intersection of Sterling Street & Forsyth Ave (185 Sterling Street, Hamilton, ON) as coordinates to guide you to the campus entrance.

Parking

When you come to campus, proceed towards the lot you want to park in. Lots A, B & C as well as the Wilson Hall underground parking are options closest to the Michael deGroote Centre for Living and Discovery (MDCL (#52)). For the Peter George Centre for Living and Learning (PGCLL (#89)) parking lot G as well as the Stadium underground parking are the closest parking lots. Please follow the link for more visitor parking details or to see the campus & parking map.

Reduced parking rates of $12/day for Congress attendees are available (need parking pass).  For those who have not pre-purchased parking passes, 1-5 day parking passes can be purchased at the guest check-in counter in the Commons Building (#28 on campus map).  We are looking into having a small supply of tickets for sale at the CAP registration desk for those for whom going to the Commons Building would be difficult.

Transit Options

There are different options to get to McMaster University’s campus by transit:

For HSR bus services, that will provide regular bus services between Hamilton downtown and the McMaster campus, please follow the link.

GO Transit provides direct transit service from Sunday to Friday between the McMaster’s GO Terminal and Burlington, Mississauga, Brampton and York University. For more details please visit the GO Transit website.

Flying

If you are flying, you will arrive either at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) or John C. Munro International in Hamilton. GO Transit provides weekday service between Pearson and campus, with a transfer at the Bramalea GO Station to the Highway 407 West service. From John C. Munro International Airport there is an hourly shuttle bus to hotels in downtown Hamilton, as well as Hamilton’s municipal transit system (HSR) that also services the airport.
