The Canadian Association of Physicists believes that the open, meaningful, and frank discussions that lead to the advancement of physics as a field require a collegial, respectful and inclusive environment, free from any form of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation.
As such the Canadian Association of Physics require that all attendees, service providers, exhibitors, vendors, volunteers and staff, collectively referred as participants, behave in accordance with its core values during any event it organizes:
- Excellence and Professionalism,
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusivity,
- Collegiality and Mentorship.
Attendees should be respectful of one another and foster an environment conducive to collegial and meaningful debate, free from offensive, harassing or disruptive language or behaviour based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, gender, age or physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, place of residence, marital status, national origin or political opinion. Participants will not be discriminated against for using French or English during conference events.
Violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported to the organisers, CAP staff or CAP leadership. The CAP Executive Committee will decide on the appropriate action to stop or prevent violations of the Code of Conduct. This may include issuing a warning, cancelling an activity or a registration, expelling the offending party from the event and/or notifying the appropriate authorities.
By registering for a CAP event, all participants agree to abide by the terms of this Code of Conduct and understand that no refund will be made as a result of any action taken by the conference in this regard.
