Medals for Research:
- CAP/DCMMP Brockhouse medal to recognize and encourage outstanding experimental or theoretical contributions to condensed matter and material physics. More information here. New Deadline: January 31, 2020
- CAP Herzberg medal to recognize outstanding achievement in any field of research by a Canadian physicist who has successfully defended their doctoral thesis within the last 12 years. More information here. New Deadline: January 31, 2020
- CAP Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Physics to recognize distinguished service to physics over an extended period of time and/or recent outstanding achievement. More information here. New Deadline: January 31, 2020
- CAP-CRM Prize in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics to recognize research excellence in the fields of theoretical and mathematical physics. More information here. Deadline: February 5, 2020
- CAP-TRIUMF Vogt Medal to recognize and encourage outstanding experimental or theoretical contributions to subatomic physics. More information here. New Deadline: January 31, 2020

Medals and Awards for Teaching:
- CAP Medal for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching to honour faculty members who have possess an exceptional ability to communicate their knowledge and understanding in such a way as to lead their students to high academic achievement in physics. - CAP Award for Excellence in Teaching High School/CEGEP Physics. Five Regional awards to recognize teaching physics in Canadian high schools or CEGEPs. More information here. Deadline: February 28, 2020.
Medals for Early Career:
In additional to the Herzberg Medal listed above, the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics offers several Young Scientist Prizes. Two of these include:

- Theoretical Physics DTP/WITP Ph.D. Thesis Prize for best thesis in theoretical physics by a student receiving a Ph.D. in physics from a Canadian University in the last two years. More information here. Deadline: January 15, 2020
- Nuclear Physics DNP Ph.D. Thesis Prize for best thesis in nuclear physics by a student receiving a Ph.D. in physics from a Canadian University in current or prior calendar year. More information here. Deadline: January 15, 2020
- Particle Physics PPD Ph.D. Thesis Prize for best thesis in Experimental or Phenomenological Particle Physics by a student receiving a Ph.D. in physics from a Canadian University in the current calendar year. More information here. Deadline: February 15, 2020
- Condensed Matter & Materials Physics DCMMP Ph.D. Thesis Prize for best thesis in theoretical physics by a student receiving a Ph.D. in physics from a Canadian University in the 2019 calendar year. More information here. Deadline: February 28, 2020 (part of CAP Congress abstract submission process)
- Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Canada DAMOPC Doctoral Thesis Prizes for best thesis in atomic, molecular and optical physics by an individual whom gas graduated within the 24 months prior of the application deadline date. More information here. Deadline: January 31, 2020
- Boris P. Stoicheff Memorial Graduate Scholarship / *NEW* Eric C. Svensson Memorial Scholarship. Each scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student who has demonstrated both research excellence and significant service to the Canadian physics (CAP) community. Only one application is required to be considered for either of the two awards. Click on the link for more information on Stoicheff or Svensson. Deadline: March 31, 2020
- Lloyd G. Elliot University Prize Exam is a national competition open to students across the country who are studying physics and are enrolled in an undergraduate program at the time of the examination. More information here. Exam will be held on 2020 February 4th.
- CAP Best Student Paper Awards is an opportunity to present posters or give oral presentations at the CAP Congress that embody the results of research they have been carrying out. More information here
