Three CAP members join the Royal Society of Canada – Class of 2024

Congratulations to CAP members Hae-Young Kee (U.Toronto) and Brigitte Vachon (McGill) for their recent appointment as Fellows of the Royal Society of Canada (RSC) and to CAP member Juliette Mammei (U. Fellows

Dr. Hae-Young Kee (Department of Physics, University of Toronto) is a world-leading theoretician renowned for her exceptional contributions to the field of quantum materials. Her ground-breaking discoveries have not only spurred exploration for new materials but have also extended the boundaries of knowledge into the realm of quantum matter. Kee’s remarkable contributions have garnered prestigious accolades, including the Sloan Fellowship, APS Fellowship, CIFAR Quantum Materials Fellowship, Tier I and II Canada Research Chairs, and the CAP/DCMMP Brockhouse Medal. Dr. Brigitte Vachon (Department of Physics, McGill University) is a distinguished scholar in subatomic physics renowned for her groundbreaking investigations of particle collisions at the high energy frontier. Her innovative contributions to the development and application of novel instruments have driven significant advancements and led to major discoveries in the field. As an internationally recognized leader, she has played a pivotal role in shaping future research programs in subatomic physics, both nationally and internationally. College Member

Dr. Juliette Mammei (Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Manitoba) is internationally recognized in the field of parity-violating electron scattering. She studies nuclear and nucleon structure and tests the Standard Model of Particles and Interactions. Dr. Mammei is dedicated to improving First Nations student outcomes and is an advocate for nuclear physics education and equity, diversity, and inclusion within Canada.
