The American Physics Society’s George E. Pake Award was established in 1983 to recognize and encourage outstanding work by physicists combining original research accomplishments with leadership in the management of research or development in industry.
The 2018 prize was awarded this week to Richard Boudreault of Polar Knowledge Canada “for outstanding research accomplishments in electronics, photonics, and advanced materials during his distinguished senior-level career in management and administration of scientific corporations and government institutions over a period of 40 years.”
Polar Knowledge Canada (POLAR) is responsible for advancing Canada’s knowledge of the Arctic, strengthening Canadian leadership in polar science and technology, and promoting the development and distribution of knowledge of other circumpolar regions, including Antarctica. POLAR operates the Canadian High Arctic Research Station (CHARS) campus and conducts world-class cutting edge Arctic research out of this extraordinary facility
