The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences today announced that the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics is being awarded to two scientists for discovering a way to study the world at a level previously thought impossible. The official citation reads: “for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks”. The 2024 Nobel prize will be shared equally by:
John Hopfield, Princeton University, New Jersey, USA
and
Geoffrey E. Hinton, University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada
