The American Physical Society has announced that the 2012 Joseph F. Keithley Award for Advances in Measurement Science has been given to Andreas Mandelis for “seminal contributions to the development of new experimental techniques based on photothermal science, and the application of these techniques to a variety of real-world problems.” Dr. Mandelis holds multiple appointments at the University of Toronto in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Institute for Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering. He is also Director of the Center for Advanced Diffusion-Wave Technologies at the University of Toronto. Among other distinctions, Dr. Mandelis was awarded in 2009 the CAP Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Industrial and Applied Physics. The full citation for the Keithley award can be found here.
