To enhance scientific relations and improve communications between physicists in Canada and Australia, the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) and the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) agree to extend the following reciprocal benefits to the members of their respective societies.
These benefits can be used only by full members of either institution, where full members generally means fee-paying members and others may be defined as full members by agreement between CAP and AIP. Residents of Canada must be full members of CAP and residents of Australia must be full members of AIP in order to qualify for these benefits. AIP full members that are temporarily in Canada (less than 6 months) and CAP full members that are temporarily in Australia will be continue to be eligible for these benefits.
The full members of CAP may:
(a) attend AIP conferences at AIP member rates
(b) subscribe to AIP’s magazine, Australian Physics, at a reduced rate
(c) be invited as a speaker to the AIP Congress (held every two years).
The full members of AIP may:
(a) attend CAP conferences at CAP member rates
(b) subscribe to CAP’s magazine, Physics in Canada, at the same rate as offered to members of other Canadian scientific societies with whom the CAP has joint memberships
(c) be invited as a speaker to the CAP Congress (held every year).
The AIP will, at times, attempt to have invited speaker(s), who are CAP members, at their Congress. The CAP will, at times, attempt to have invited speaker(s), who is an AIP member, at their Congress. There will be no financial obligation involved for this from either CAP or the AIP.
The President of AIP will be welcome to attend the CAP Congress and the President of CAP will be welcome to attend the AIP Congress, with the registration fees waived.
This agreement will come into immediate effect on signature by both the President of the Australian Institute of Physics and the President of the Canadian Association of Physicists and shall remain in force until either the President of the Australian Institute of Physics or the President of the Canadian Association of Physicists gives 12 months written notice of termination or of a wish to renegotiate the agreement.
