{"id":27129,"date":"2025-05-26T18:19:21","date_gmt":"2025-05-26T22:19:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cap.ca\/congres-de-lacp\/congres-de-lacp-2025\/2025-instructions-for-oral-presenters\/"},"modified":"2025-05-26T18:21:56","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T22:21:56","slug":"2025-instructions-for-oral-presenters","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cap.ca\/fr\/congres-de-lacp\/congres-anterieurs\/congres-de-lacp-2025\/2025-instructions-for-oral-presenters\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 Instructions for Oral Presenters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Duration of Talk<\/b><\/p>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contributed and Competition talks: 12 minutes and allow a three-minute period for questions (12 plus 3 minutes = 15 minutes).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Invited talk: 25 minutes and allow a five-minute period for questions (20 plus 5 minutes = 25 minutes).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To ensure that the session runs smoothly, efficiently and finishes on time,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a timer will enforce the time allocation, with a pre-warning 2\u2019 before the end of time, and a second warning at the mandatory finishing time.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Conference Room AV Equipment<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each presentation room is equipped with a projector, sound system, and computer console, with a UBS port, HDMI cable, VGA cable, lapel microphone, and handheld microphone. Presentation room computers run on Microsoft\u00a0 Windows 10, with Microsoft 365 (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Adobe Reader, VLC Media Player, and Windows Media Player installed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presenters must bring your oral presentation in PPT or PDF format on a USB drive to the volunteer assisting in the presentation room prior to the start of the session. A volunteer will be present 20 minutes before the start of each session to assist with uploading the presentation from the USB onto the room rack computer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If your presentation includes a video, it is strongly recommended that you bring the video as a separate file (ensure compatibility with the software noted above) along with your presentation file.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Best Student Oral Competitors<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Student competitors must be a current graduate student member or undergraduate student affiliate of the CAP to be eligible to compete (<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/crm.cap.ca\/en\/civicrm\/contribute\/transact?reset=1&amp;id=8\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click here to join<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">or<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/crm.cap.ca\/en\/user\/login\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">click here to check membership<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and renew if necessary). The deadline to join and preserve the right to compete is May 13th.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All oral competition entries will be judged by Divisional Judges in the parallel technical sessions and symposia as scheduled from Monday afternoon through to Tuesday end of day. The list of the eight finalists for the CAP Best Student Oral Competition will be posted by <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14h00<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Wednesday, June 11, at the CAP desk in the registration area. The finalists will also be contacted directly by phone between <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14h00-19h30<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on Wednesday to confirm their participation in the finals. Please keep an eye on your voicemail!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finalists for the CAP Best Student Oral Competition will give a second oral presentation on Thursday, June 12, 10h00-12h00. Winners of the CAP Best Student Oral Competition and winners of Division oral competitions will be announced at the Student Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 12, 15h30-16h00.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All competitors should make plans to be in attendance at Congress on Thursday June 12 in order to be available for the final competition should they be selected.
