{"id":23214,"date":"2023-06-17T22:16:12","date_gmt":"2023-06-18T02:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cap.ca\/?page_id=23214"},"modified":"2023-06-17T22:16:12","modified_gmt":"2023-06-18T02:16:12","slug":"preparing-ahead-for-an-oral-presentation-in-a-parallel-session","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/cap.ca\/fr\/congres-de-lacp\/congres-anterieurs\/congres-2023\/preparing-ahead-for-an-oral-presentation-in-a-parallel-session\/","title":{"rendered":"Preparing ahead for an oral presentation in a parallel session"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Instructions for presenters in parallel sessions<\/h2>\n<p>15-minute talks are 12 minutes of presentation plus 3 minutes for questions.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li>(Room timers: green light 10 minutes, yellow light 2 minutes, red light start of questions.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>30-minute talks are 25 minutes of presentation plus 5 minutes for questions.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li>(Room timers: green light 20 minutes, yellow light 5 minutes, red light start of questions.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please plan accordingly.<\/p>\n<h4>If using the room computer<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li>Please bring your presentation as PowerPoint or PDF<br \/>\nFor swiftest transfer to the room computer, please bring the presentation on a USB stick \u2013<br \/>\nthe title should include \u201cCAP\u201d and your name.<\/li>\n<li>Please bring your presentation to the room manager (red CAP shirt) or Chair of the session<br \/>\nat least 15 minutes before the start of the session.\/li&gt;<\/li>\n<li>Please launch and test your presentation on the room computer before the session begins.<\/li>\n<li>Check that videos\/animations work and that fonts\/mathematics are correctly represented.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>If bringing your own computer<\/h4>\n<ul class=\"content-list\">\n<li>Please test the following procedure in advance of your presentation.<\/li>\n<li>You can connect to the Teams meeting in order to test, even before the scheduled day\/time.<\/li>\n<li>Find your session number at indico.cern.ch (search for CAP Congress 2023 or go directly to<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/indico.cern.ch\/event\/1191895\/timetable\/#20230620)<br \/>\ne.g. <b>M1-5<\/b> for <b>M<\/b>onday, <b>1st<\/b> parallel session of the day, parallel session number <b>5<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Have an HDMI connector or bring with you an adapter to allow you to connect to HDMI.<\/li>\n<li>Your computer needs to be able to connect to a Teams meeting.<br \/>\n(It is possible to do this through a browser, but best results are usually achieved by<br \/>\ninstalling Teams on your computer. You can install Teams from app stores or from<br \/>\nMicrosoft.com for free.)<\/p>\n<ol class=\"content-list\">\n<li>Launch your presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Join the Teams meeting for your session number. <b>The meeting links can be found by<br \/>\nlogging in at www.cap.ca with the same login you used to register. (Look for \u201c2023<br \/>\nCongress Virtual Viewing Access\u201d.)<\/b><\/li>\n<li>Click the \u201cShare\u201d icon (upwards arrow), select \u201cWindow\u201d and choose the window<br \/>\nwhich contains your presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Enter presentation mode.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the event of any difficulty connecting with your own computer, it is best to switch to the<br \/>\nroom computer.<\/p>\n<p><b>Plenary presenters<\/b> on Monday to Wednesday should contact the audiovisual staff at the<br \/>\ntable in the Richard J.
