Quantum Mechanics and its current applications are already on the curriculum in some provinces, and we have heard from many teachers that they are interested in learning more.<\/p>\n<p>We have invited four speakers who are experienced outreach instructors: <strong>John Donohue<\/strong> (IQC Waterloo), <strong>Maxime Dion<\/strong> (Institute Quantique, Sherbrooke), and <strong>Haris Amiri<\/strong> <strong>and Hanieh Aghaee-Rad <\/strong>(UBC).<\/p>\n<p>They will guide participants through (high school-appropriate) quantum mechanics as a background for quantum information science and technology, introduce qubits, quantum circuits, the gate model and the annealing model, and demonstrate simulations and hands-on activities that participants can use with their students.<\/p>\n<p>We will also talk about societal implications, jobs in the quantum industry, and provide further resources.<\/p>\n<p>Registration (for the whole congress) is only $20 for High School teachers.<\/p>\n<p><em>This workshop will be delivered in English.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>To attend the workshop only<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.ca\/e\/2021-cap-high-school-teachers-workshop-how-to-teach-quantum-computing-tickets-158239337117\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>register through EventBrite.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>To participate in the full Congress, <a href=\"https:\/\/cap.ca\/congress-conference\/2021-cap-virtual-congress-june-6-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Register here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by:<\/p>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snolab.ca\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-9442 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/cap.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/02\/snolab.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"79\" \/><\/a>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CAP is pleased to host the CAP High School Teachers Workshop on Sunday, June 6th, from 12h00 to 17h00.
